Mild days outdoors

It's much less sticky than summer, so you can explore Xiqiao Mountain or stroll around Qiandeng Lake without the heavy heat. If you hate crowds, this is a good month to come.

Rain and local plans

Expect some showers, but they're not constant, so keep your plans flexible. Wet paths can make the walk up Xiqiao Mountain less comfortable, so save the hike for a drier spell. On rainy days, visit Nanfeng Kiln in nearby Shiwan, known for its old pottery kilns, or settle in for a bowl of local fish congee.

There's no major national holiday in November, so you won't face the travel rush that comes with China's October National Day break. Singles' Day, on November 11, is a huge online shopping event rather than a local festival, so it won't change your plans much.

Crowds and costs

November sits inside Nanhai's best stretch, which runs from November to February. It's cooler than October and warmer than December, so you'll likely get comfortable sightseeing weather without October's holiday crowds. Prices can be higher than in the hot, wet summer, but November is generally calmer than the National Day period.

For an easy local outing, take the Guangfo Metro to Qiandeng Lake. It gets you to the lakefront quickly, and the evening walk suits November's cooler air. If you're staying farther out in Nanhai, check your return route before you set off.
