April: warm and damp

April in Nadi feels warm, sticky and often cloudy. Rain falls on many days, so showers can interrupt beach time and views from the Mamanuca Islands. It's still possible to enjoy a boat trip, but keep your plans flexible in case the sea turns rough.

Easter and quieter days

Easter sometimes falls in April, bringing church services and family gatherings. Dates change each year, so don't assume a particular festival will happen during your trip. Nadi's Hindu community also marks festivals on dates that vary, but there isn't one major April event to count on.

If you hate crowds, April can feel calmer than Fiji's popular July and August season. It's also outside the usual peak dry-season period, so stays may cost less than in those busier months. Easter can bring more local travel, though, and the wet weather may limit island outings.

Make the most of a wet day

Travelling with kids? Keep a flexible plan, with a market visit or temple stop ready if rain cuts short a pool or beach day. Nadi's warm evenings can still suit dinner out, but damp air and cloud make April a poor choice if you want dependable sunshine.

For a practical local fix, ask your hotel about road conditions before heading to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. Heavy rain can leave its garden paths muddy. Afterward, try kokoda, a Fijian dish of fish cured in citrus and mixed with coconut milk.
