Kaohsiung Weather in November

November: warm and mostly comfortable

November feels warm rather than sweaty by Kaohsiung standards, with highs around 28°C and nights near 23°C. Rain falls on about nine days, but the month is drier than October. You can explore the Pier-2 Art Center, walk around Lotus Pond or take the ferry to Cijin without the heavy summer heat.

Showers can interrupt a beach afternoon or a long bike ride, so keep indoor stops like the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts in mind. The sea and air can still feel humid, especially around the harbour.

Film and fewer crowds

The Kaohsiung Film Festival usually runs across October and November, with screenings at venues around the city. Dates and programme change each year, so it's worth checking the festival schedule before you go. November has no major fixed public holiday that draws visitors across Taiwan.

If you hate crowds, you'll usually find the city calmer than during the December-to-March high season. Prices can also be gentler than in those popular winter months, though festival dates may bring more demand near screening venues.

Make Cijin easy

Travelling with kids? The ferry ride from Gushan to Cijin is short, and the island's old street makes an easy outing between showers. Try grilled seafood there, then walk toward Cihou Lighthouse if the weather is clear.

For the ferry, use the Gushan Ferry Pier near Hamasen rather than heading to a different harbour terminal. November's pleasant conditions suit a relaxed Cijin visit, but don't count on a full beach day: rain and cloud still show up. Bring your sightseeing plans inland if the sky turns grey.
