October: hot days, warm nights

October still feels like summer in Jeddah. Highs reach 39°C, and nights stay warm at around 28°C. The sun is strong, with little cloud, so long daytime walks can feel draining. Rain is rare, but a brief shower is possible.

Save outdoor sightseeing for after sunset. Al-Balad's old lanes and the Jeddah Corniche are better explored when the day's heat eases. Malls and indoor sights suit the middle of the day. The sea may look inviting, but don't expect cool relief from the air.

Events and crowds

There's no major annual Jeddah festival that reliably falls in October. Saudi National Day is in September, while the Red Sea International Film Festival is usually held later in the year. Islamic holidays follow a lunar calendar, so their dates shift.

October is generally quieter than Jeddah's cooler winter months. The heat puts off many leisure visitors, so hotels may cost less than during the high season. It's not guaranteed, though: business trips and local events can still fill rooms.

If you hate crowds, October can suit you—especially if you're happy to explore after dark.

Make the heat work for you

Plan a relaxed day around indoor stops, then head to Al-Balad in the evening. Its coral-stone buildings and historic market lanes are far more comfortable to explore once the sun is down. For a local meal, try a Jeddah-style seafood dish near the waterfront.

If you're visiting Al-Balad, use a taxi to reach its edge and walk from there. The old lanes are narrow, and a long approach on foot in October's heat can wear you out. Skip strenuous outdoor plans in the middle of the day; November is cooler and wetter.
