December weather

December is one of Jeddah's easiest months for being outdoors. Days feel warm rather than scorching, and evenings are comfortable for a walk along the Corniche. You'll get plenty of sun, with rain usually brief and uncommon.

It's a good time to explore Al-Balad's old lanes, visit the waterfront or take a boat trip on the Red Sea. Long walks through exposed areas can still feel tiring in the warm afternoon sun, so save those for later in the day. The sea is inviting, but check local swimming rules before heading into the water.

Events and crowds

The Red Sea International Film Festival is held in Jeddah, often in December, though its dates can change. It brings screenings and events to the city, especially around the historic district. Check the festival dates if you want to attend, or avoid that area at busy times.

Winter is a popular season, so Jeddah can feel busier than during the hotter months. Hotels and flights may cost more, especially around the festival and school breaks. January is also a strong month to visit, while November is hotter, so December sits in a comfortable, popular stretch.

If you hate crowds, visit Al-Balad on a weekday and leave the Corniche for sunset.

A local tip

For an easy evening, take a stroll along the Jeddah Waterfront, then head to Al-Balad for dinner. Try sayadiyah, a local fish-and-rice dish, at a restaurant in the old district. The cooler evening air makes wandering the narrow streets much more pleasant than going in the heat of the day.
