January weather by the sea

January is one of Jeddah's most comfortable months. Days reach 30°C, while evenings cool to around 20°C. The sun is strong, but the air feels less sticky than in hotter months. Rain is uncommon, though a short shower can interrupt an outdoor plan.

This weather suits a walk along the Jeddah Corniche, a visit to Al-Balad's old lanes, or a boat trip on the Red Sea. You can enjoy outdoor sights without the heavy heat of summer. Skip long midday walks through Al-Balad if the sun feels tiring; save them for later in the day.

Events and crowds

January doesn't have a major fixed national holiday in Jeddah. Saudi Founding Day falls in February, not January, and event dates can change from year to year. Check local listings if you're hoping for a festival or concert.

January is a popular time to visit, so expect more visitors than in the hotter months. Hotels and flights may cost more than during the quieter summer season. Crowds can also grow around the waterfront and Al-Balad, especially at weekends.
