Warm days on the Red Sea

October feels hot in Hurghada, but it's gentler than September. Daytime highs reach 31°C, with warm evenings around 24°C. The air is fairly dry, and rain is very rare, so beach time and boat trips usually work well.

You can snorkel around Giftun Island, where clear water and coral reefs make the sea the main attraction. Desert trips are also possible, but the afternoon sun can feel strong on open ground. Save long walks around El Dahar, the old town, for later in the day.

A quieter shoulder season

October sits between the hottest summer months and Hurghada's busier winter season. You'll usually find fewer winter holiday crowds than from November to April, and prices can be lower than in peak winter. Resorts and boat trips are still running, though, so don't expect the beaches to feel empty.

For families, the warm sea and calmer pace can make October easier than a midwinter trip.

Egypt marks Armed Forces Day on October 6. It's a national holiday, not a major Hurghada festival, and some government services may close. Tourist resorts and sea excursions generally aren't built around the holiday.

Make the sea day count

A practical choice is to take a boat trip to Giftun Island rather than spend the whole day on Hurghada's main beach. You'll get time for swimming and snorkeling, with a break from the heat on the water. Ask what the trip includes before you go, since stops and meal arrangements can differ.

For a local meal, try grilled fish in the Marina area after your boat returns. October's long sunny days suit a relaxed seaside day, but save strenuous desert activities for cooler hours.
