Warm days by the Red Sea

October feels hot in Aqaba, but less punishing than September. Daytime highs reach 32°C, while evenings cool to around 19°C. Rain is rare, so you can count on mostly clear days for the beach and boat trips.

The heat can still make long walks tiring, especially around Aqaba Fort and the old town at midday. Save those for later, and use the brightest hours for a swim or a glass-bottom boat ride over the Red Sea reefs.

Good for water, slower on land

Snorkelling at South Beach and diving from Aqaba's shore are good ways to spend a warm day. For a change of pace, take a boat trip to see the reefs without spending hours on foot. If you're heading inland to Wadi Rum, the cooler evenings make a desert camp more comfortable than in summer.

If you hate crowds, October is a useful middle ground: it's calmer than the winter high season, but busier than the hottest summer months. Prices can sit between those seasons too, though they vary by hotel and dates.

Events and local tips

October isn't a fixed major festival month in Aqaba. Islamic holidays follow a lunar calendar, so their dates shift from year to year; you may notice changed opening hours if one falls during your visit.

For a simple local stop, walk between Aqaba Fort and Arab Revolt Plaza, then try sayadieh, a local fish-and-rice dish, near the waterfront. The fort's shaded walls offer a welcome pause before you continue along the sunny seafront.
