April weather

April feels mild and pleasantly spring-like in Hamilton. Days reach around 20°C, while evenings stay close to 19°C. It's comfortable for walking Front Street, visiting the Bermuda National Gallery or taking the ferry across the harbour. Rain comes on about 12 days, and cloud is common, so don't count on every day being bright.

The sea and air may feel cool if you're hoping to spend long hours swimming. Choose a sheltered beach, such as Elbow Beach, when the weather is settled, and keep a city visit or museum for a showery spell. April is drier than May, though March is wetter still.

Easter traditions

Good Friday often falls in April, bringing a distinctive Bermuda tradition: families fly colourful kites, especially at Horseshoe Bay. Codfish cakes and hot cross buns are part of the holiday, too. It's a lovely way to see local life, but the beach can be busier around the event.

April is a popular spring month, but it's generally calmer than Bermuda's summer high season. You'll find fewer visitors than in peak summer, and prices are often gentler than during the busiest months. Easter can bring a short-lived rise in demand, so the island won't feel equally quiet all month.

A useful local tip: take the ferry from Hamilton to Dockyard for harbour views and an easy trip to the Royal Naval Dockyard. If rain interrupts your plans, the ferry ride still gives you a reason to get out on the water.
