Guigang stays hot and very damp in September. Days reach 31°C, nights remain warm, and humidity sits at 84%. Rain falls on about half the days, with cloudy skies and only a few hours of sun on an average day.

You can still visit Guiping's Xishan Scenic Area, but expect sticky climbs and wet paths. A walk around town or a relaxed meal works better than a long hike on rainy days. Skip plans that depend on clear views across Dateng Gorge; clouds and showers can spoil them. October is cooler and much drier, so September isn't the easiest month for outdoor sightseeing.

Festivals and crowds

The Mid-Autumn Festival sometimes falls in September. Families gather, and you may see mooncakes in local shops, but the date changes each year. China's National Day holiday begins in October, so travel can pick up toward the end of September as people start holiday trips.

If you hate crowds, early September may feel calmer than the National Day period. September is also outside the main peak around China's October holiday, so stays may cost less than during that rush. Prices still depend on the festival dates and local demand.
