Cali stays hot in February, with daytime highs around 30°C and warm nights. But it's often cloudy and humid, and rain falls on about half the days. Showers can interrupt a walk through the San Antonio neighbourhood or an afternoon at the riverfront, so keep indoor plans handy.

The weather is similar to January, but February brings more rain. March is wetter still. Cloud cover and frequent showers make this a less comfortable month for long outdoor days than July to September.

What to do

You can still enjoy Cali's food, museums and salsa scene between showers. Try a local cholado, a shaved-ice treat topped with fruit, or spend time in the Museo La Tertulia. For dancing, head to the clubs around Avenida Sexta.

If you're hoping for a major festival, February is quieter than December, when the city holds the Feria de Cali. Colombia's Carnival season can fall in February, but Cali isn't a main Carnival destination.

Crowds and tips

February usually feels calmer than Cali's December festival period, though school breaks and Carnival travel can bring extra visitors some years. With no major fixed city festival, you'll generally find fewer event crowds. Prices can be lower than during Feria de Cali, but vary by dates and demand.

If you hate crowds, February may suit you, as long as you're happy to work around rain. At the Gato del Río, take a short riverside stroll when the sky clears, then duck into a café in nearby Granada if a shower rolls in.
