October: hot and rainy

October feels sticky in Cali, with warm days and little sunshine. Rain falls on many days, and thick cloud can make the city feel grey. Showers may interrupt a walk, so keep plans flexible.

Holidays and crowds

October doesn't have Cali's big December draw, the Feria de Cali. Colombia's October 12 holiday, Día de la Raza, can bring a long weekend, though the observed day may shift. Expect some local travel around the holiday, rather than a city-wide festival.

If you hate crowds, October is usually calmer than the July-to-September period and December's festival season. Rainy weather also makes it a quieter time for visitors. Prices can be easier on your budget than in December, but the weather is a trade-off.

You'll still find chances to explore between showers. Try a short visit to the historic San Antonio church and nearby streets, or take in the views from the hill when skies open up. The high humidity can make a full day of walking feel tiring, so mix outdoor plans with indoor stops.
