Budva is hot and mostly sunny in August, with afternoons around 31°C and warm nights near 21°C. The sea and shaded lanes in the Old Town make a better midday break than a long walk on exposed streets. It's a good month for swimming at Mogren Beach or taking a boat trip along the coast.

Rain is limited, but showers can still interrupt a beach day. If you're hiking above town, go when the day is cooler and keep an eye on the forecast. The long, bright days leave plenty of time for a swim and an evening meal by the marina.

Events and evenings

Budva's summer Theatre City festival usually brings performances to the Old Town and other spots around town. It's a good reason to linger after the beach, though the programme and dates change each year.

Travelling with kids? The evening promenade along Slovenska Beach is an easy place for a stroll, with cafés and space to stop for a snack. Try priganice, small fried dough bites often served with honey or cheese.

Crowds and costs

August is peak season, with European school holidays bringing busy beaches, packed restaurants and higher accommodation prices than in June or September. The narrow lanes of the Old Town can feel especially crowded in the evening. September is cooler and wetter, but often a calmer choice.

If you hate crowds, head to Mogren Beach early; the path from the Old Town is scenic but narrow, and the beach fills quickly. For a quieter swim, look beyond the main stretch of Slovenska Beach. Check local signs before setting off, as coastal paths can be closed or rough.
