April by the sea

April in Budva feels mild rather than summery. Days reach about 17°C, while evenings cool to around 10°C. You'll get roughly seven hours of sun, but rain can interrupt a coastal stroll. The sea is still chilly for most swimmers, and wet paths can make the walk to Mogren Beach slippery.

You can enjoy the Old Town's stone lanes, browse its churches and take in the views from the citadel without summer heat. Save long beach days for later in the year.

Easter sometimes falls in April, though the date changes each year. If it does, you may notice Orthodox services and family gatherings around Budva's churches. It's a quieter, local occasion, not a large festival with a set annual date.

If you're visiting for a big event, April may feel subdued. Budva's best-known carnival season is earlier in the year, so don't expect its parade atmosphere now.

Quieter streets

April is shoulder season: the Old Town and promenade are calmer than in June and July, Budva's busiest months. Prices are generally lower than in summer, but some beach bars and seasonal services may still be closed. May is warmer, so April suits sightseeing better than a classic beach holiday.

If you hate crowds, you'll enjoy strolling the promenade without the summer crush. For a practical local tip, check the weather before taking the coastal path from the Old Town to Mogren; after rain, the rocky sections can be slick. Try seafood in the Old Town, but don't count on every seasonal restaurant being open yet.
