Visiting Budva in July
July: hot beach days
July feels properly summery in Budva. Afternoons reach 30°C, with warm evenings around 21°C. There's plenty of sun, and rain is limited, so you can plan beach time with little worry about a washout.
Swimming and boat trips suit the weather. You can also wander Budva's Old Town, but its stone lanes get hot in the afternoon. Save them for later, when the heat eases. July isn't ideal for long hikes in exposed spots above the coast.
Festivals and busy streets
Grad Teatar, also called the Theatre City festival, brings performances to open-air venues around Budva, including the Old Town. It usually runs through the summer, so July is a good time to catch a show. Check the local programme for the exact dates and venues.
If you hate crowds, July may test your patience. Budva is in peak summer season, and beaches, restaurant terraces and the Old Town fill up. Rooms and meals generally cost more than in June or September. The long sunny days are a trade-off, but quieter coastal visits are easier outside July.
Make the most of the coast
Travelling with kids? Mogren Beach is close to the Old Town, so you won't need a long drive for a swim. The path to it runs beside the sea and passes the famous Budva ballerina statue. It's a lovely short walk, though the route can feel exposed in the afternoon sun.
For a calmer break from the busiest stretch, try the beach at Jaz, west of town. July's warm, mostly dry weather works well for a beach day there. Keep sightseeing flexible, and enjoy the Old Town after the sun has dipped.
