Best Time to Visit Bekasi
Indonesia · weather by month, temperature and rainfall
The best time to visit Bekasi is August and September, when the weather is at its most comfortable for sightseeing and time outdoors. Temperatures barely change through the year: highs stay between 29°C and 31°C, so rainfall matters far more than heat when choosing when to go. The rainy season runs over December to March; February is the wettest month with about 407 mm (16.0 in) of rain. December is the least comfortable month, mainly because of the rain.
When to go to Bekasi: a seasonal guide
Dry season: August and September
Bekasi is a big commuter city on the eastern edge of Jakarta, and it's hot and humid all year. The temperature barely moves. What changes is the rain. August is the driest month, with rain on about 11 days. September comes close behind.
These two months are your best bet. You'll get the most sun, around six hours a day in August, and fewer soggy afternoons. It's still sticky, so plan outdoor stops for the morning. Spend the hottest hours in an air-conditioned mall like Summarecon Mal Bekasi.
July is a fair second choice. Rain is lighter, and the days feel a little less heavy.
Rainy season: December to March
Expect grey skies and rain on nearly every day. January, February and March all see rain on 28 to 30 days, and February is the wettest month. Showers can be long, not just a quick afternoon burst.
Flooding is a real issue in parts of Bekasi during heavy spells. It can slow roads and the commuter train to Jakarta. If you must come now, keep your plans loose and stay near a train station. This is a time for indoor stops: food courts, cafés and malls. Try soto Betawi, a rich beef soup with coconut milk that's popular around the Jakarta area.
Travelling with kids? Skip these months if you can. Wet days and traffic make everything slower.
The in-between months
April to June is a slow drying-out. April still has rain on most days. By June it's down to about 20 days, and the sun starts to show up more.
October to November go the other way. October can feel decent early on, but rain is back on 21 days. By November it's on 27 days.
Bekasi isn't a classic tourist stop, so there's no true high season. Crowds depend more on Indonesian holidays. Around Eid al-Fitr, many people leave the city to visit family, and roads and trains get very busy. Streets can feel quieter in the city itself, but travel in and out is hard. On 17 August, Independence Day, neighbourhoods fill with flags, street games and local contests. It's a fun time to be here, and it falls in the best weather window.
If you want an easy trip, pick mid-August to September. Use Bekasi as a base for day trips into Jakarta, and head back before the evening rush.
