July: hot and rainy

July feels oppressive in Xinxiang. Highs reach 35°C, nights stay warm, and humidity makes time outdoors tiring. Rain falls on 14 days, often leaving paths slick and plans uncertain. June is just as hot but much drier; August is a little cooler and still rainy. Cloudy skies and limited sunshine can also make long sightseeing days feel less appealing.

If you're visiting the city, keep outdoor stops short and leave room to change plans. The Xinxiang Museum or a relaxed meal indoors works better than hours in the sun.

Waterfalls after rain

Baligou Scenic Area, in the South Taihang Mountains, is a better fit for July than a long city walk. Its waterfalls and shaded valleys feel refreshing, though heavy rain can make mountain paths slippery. Check local conditions before setting out, and don't push on if trails are wet.

School-break crowds

July brings China's summer school break, so family trips can make popular sights busier than in quieter spring and autumn months. Accommodation and transport may cost more than during Xinxiang's best-weather months, March to April and October. The city itself may still feel calmer than major tourist centres.

There's no major, widely known July festival specific to Xinxiang. School holidays are the main seasonal event; July 1 is not a public holiday. If you hate crowds, choose a weekday for Baligou and keep your city plans flexible when rain rolls in.
