Wuwei Weather in October

Mild days, chilly evenings

October is one of Wuwei's best months for sightseeing. Afternoons reach about 17°C, but evenings can feel cold, with lows around 6°C. Rain is limited, though showers can interrupt a day out. The cooler, mostly dry weather suits the Confucian Temple and Leitai Han Tomb, where you can take your time outdoors without September's warmer, wetter feel. Save longer walks for daylight; it fades earlier than in summer.

National Day crowds

China's National Day holiday falls at the start of October, and domestic travel can make Wuwei's sights and trains busier then. Outside that holiday week, crowds and prices are generally lower than during peak summer travel, while the weather remains pleasant for a visit. The city is also quieter than in the spring holiday period. If you hate crowds, visit later in the month and give popular sights a little breathing room.

Make time for Liangzhou

October has no major Wuwei festival I can confidently recommend, so build your plans around the city's history and food. Try Wuwei's san tao che, a local set meal, after a day exploring Liangzhou's old sights. Travelling with kids? The Leitai Han Tomb gives you a clear look at Wuwei's past without needing a long hike.

For a practical tip, check how you'll reach the Tiantishan Grottoes before setting out. They're outside the city, so don't assume you can fit them between nearby central sights. Autumn is a good time to visit, but cool evenings make a late return less comfortable. October gets around five hours of sun a day, so leave the grottoes enough daylight.
