March weather

March feels warm and fairly steady in Willemstad, with highs around 27°C and little change after dark. Humidity is high, but rain is limited to a few days, so you can spend plenty of time outdoors. The sun and short showers suit a walk through Punda and Otrobanda, a visit to the Curaçao Maritime Museum, or a swim at nearby Mambo Beach.

It's less suited to long walks in the middle of the day, when the warmth can feel sticky. Save the Queen Emma Bridge crossing and colourful Handelskade photos for a more comfortable part of the day.

Events and plans

March doesn't have one major annual Willemstad festival that falls on the same dates every year. Good Friday and Easter can land in March, bringing church services and holiday closures. If you're visiting then, expect some shops and local businesses to keep different hours.

Curaçao's Carnival season usually takes place earlier in the year, though dates can shift. Don't count on a parade in March without checking the year's schedule.

March is still part of the island's popular winter-sun season. Willemstad can feel busier, and accommodation often costs more than in the quieter, wetter months later in the year. It's generally less of a peak than the busiest winter weeks, but spring-break visitors can add to the crowds.

If you hate crowds, head to Punda's waterfront outside the busiest cruise-ship hours. Travelling with kids? The short Queen Emma Bridge crossing is fun, but it can close to let ships pass; use the free ferry between Punda and Otrobanda instead.
