March weather

March feels warm and mostly sunny in Oranjestad, and it's one of the best months to visit. Days reach about 27°C, and evenings stay close to 26°C. Rain is limited, with around 16 mm falling over three days, so a passing shower won't shape your whole trip. You'll get about eight hours of sun a day for beach time, waterfront strolls and a visit to Fort Zoutman.

That steady warmth also suits snorkelling and boat trips. Walking downtown can feel sticky, though, especially around midday, so save the open-air sights for a cooler part of the day. Don't count on a refreshing evening either. February is much the same, and April runs a little hotter and drier, but all three months fall inside the January-to-April window that suits Aruba best.

Events and crowds

The Aruba International Half Marathon is usually held in March, with a course running from Oranjestad toward San Nicolas. It's a fun event to watch, but confirm the date before you plan around it. Carnival season often ends before March, so don't expect its big parades then.

Because March sits in Aruba's popular January-to-April travel season, you'll share Eagle Beach and downtown with plenty of other visitors. Prices are generally higher than in the quieter summer and autumn months. If crowds wear you down, try the beach away from the main hotel strip.

A useful local tip

For an easy change of scene, take an Arubus from central Oranjestad toward Eagle Beach. That way you won't have to walk the exposed road in the afternoon heat. Check the route and return service locally, since beach buses can be busy when cruise ships are in port.

Travelling with kids? Fort Zoutman's small history museum gives you a shaded break near the waterfront. From there you can wander the colourful nearby streets without committing to a long outing.
