October feels mild and much drier than September. Days reach about 20°C, with cooler evenings around 15°C. Rain falls on roughly eight days, so showers can still interrupt a coastal walk, but you'll usually get comfortable weather for sightseeing.

It's a good month for the paths at Daewangam Park and a stroll through Taehwagang National Garden. The autumn air also suits a walk along the coast near Ganjeolgot. The sea may feel too cool for a swim, and wet rocks at Daewangam can be slippery.

Holidays and autumn days

South Korea marks National Foundation Day on October 3 and Hangul Day on October 9. Both are public holidays, though they don't guarantee a major Ulsan festival. If a holiday falls near a weekend, expect more local visitors at popular parks and sights.

If you hate crowds, visit Taehwagang National Garden on a weekday. The riverside is especially pleasant when the ginkgo trees turn yellow, and you can wander into its famous bamboo grove, Simnidaesup.

Crowds and practical tips

October is one of Ulsan's best months, so you won't have the city entirely to yourself. Parks and coastal sights can draw more visitors than during the hotter, wetter summer. Still, Ulsan generally feels less like a tourist crush than South Korea's busiest city destinations. Prices tend to be calmer than in peak summer, though holiday weekends can be busier.

At Daewangam Park, follow the marked coastal paths rather than scrambling down toward the rocks. Wind and showers can make the shoreline slippery. For a quieter break, cross the river at Taehwagang National Garden and take time in Simnidaesup, instead of just passing through.
