October weather

October is one of Changwon's best months to visit. Days feel mild, evenings cooler, and the air is less sticky than in September. You'll get plenty of usable daylight for exploring, with rain on only a handful of days.

The weather suits a walk around Yongji Lake or a visit to the Changwon Sculpture Biennale sites. It's also a good time for coastal views near Masan. Skip long outdoor plans if rain moves in, and expect evenings to feel cool by the water.

Festivals and holidays

The Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival usually runs from late October into November. Its flower displays around Masan Port make a colourful stop, but the waterfront gets busy on festival weekends. National Foundation Day and Hangul Day fall in October, too; when a holiday creates a long weekend, expect more local visitors.

If you hate crowds, visit the Masan Port displays on a weekday rather than a weekend.

Crowds and costs

October draws more visitors than the colder months, especially when the chrysanthemum festival is on. Still, it's generally calmer than the peak summer travel period, and accommodation prices are often easier than in high season. Festival weekends can be an exception, so compare them with ordinary weekdays.

For a practical local tip, pair the festival with a stop at Masan Fish Market, nearby on the waterfront. It's a good place to try hoe, Korean-style raw fish, after seeing the flowers. Check the market's opening hours before you go, as individual stalls may keep different schedules.
