March weather in Urumqi

March feels like winter easing off, not proper spring yet. Days can reach 11°C, but nights dip below freezing. There's some rain, though it falls on only a few days; cloud can make the city feel cooler than the daytime high suggests.

March is a quieter shoulder-season month. You'll generally see fewer visitors, and prices are often softer than in the popular April-to-May and September periods. Some mountain activities may still be limited by snow, so the city makes a better base than a hiking trip.
