November weather

November feels warm, damp and changeable in Tulum. Days reach 28°C, and nights stay mild at 23°C. Rain falls on many days, but showers don't usually mean a washout. You'll still get sunny spells for swimming, snorkelling or exploring the Tulum ruins.

The coast can feel sticky, and wet paths make jungle walks less appealing after a downpour. Save a cenote visit or a meal in town for a rainy spell. November is less wet than October, though rain is still more common than in December.

Day of the Dead

Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos, falls on November 1 and 2. Families honour loved ones with offerings, flowers and food. You may see decorations and community events around Tulum, but it's a local tradition, not a big resort party.

If you're travelling for the holiday, be respectful around family altars and cemeteries. Ask before taking photos, and don't assume every event is aimed at visitors.

Quieter before winter

November is a shoulder month: the rainy season is easing, while the busy winter stretch hasn't fully arrived. You'll generally find fewer visitors and better-value stays than in December and the peak winter months. The first half can feel quieter than the end, when holiday travel starts to build.

If you hate crowds, November may suit you better than the winter peak.

For a practical Tulum tip, take a colectivo between town and the beach road rather than relying on taxis for every trip. These shared vans run along the main route, but you may need to walk from a stop to your hotel or beach club.
