June weather in Tórshavn

June feels cool, damp and often cloudy, even with long daylight. The high is around 10°C, and rain falls on about half the days. You may get a bright spell, but don't count on a full sunny afternoon.

That long daylight gives you time for coastal walks or a visit to the National Museum. The harbour and old streets of Tinganes are good for exploring between showers. For a beach day or a clear mountain view, conditions can disappoint; keep plans flexible rather than setting aside a whole day for either.

Events and summer mood

Sankthans, the midsummer celebration on June 23, is marked with bonfires in parts of the Faroes. Local arrangements can vary, so ask in Tórshavn where people are gathering. The larger Ólavsøka festival is in July, not June.

If you hate crowds, June is a calmer choice than the busiest summer weeks. It's still summer travel season, though, so expect more visitors and higher prices than in the quieter winter months.

Travelling with kids? Long evenings leave room for a harbour stroll after a rainy afternoon, without rushing back before dark.

One useful local tip: check the wind before walking out to the lighthouse on Nólsoy. The ferry from Tórshavn makes the island an easy outing, but exposed paths can feel much colder than the town. If the weather turns, stay close to the harbour and try ræst kjøt, fermented mutton, at a local restaurant instead. June is among the best months overall to visit, but the weather is still part of the deal.
