Songjiang Weather in September

Warm, damp days

September feels warm and sticky in Songjiang. Afternoons can still feel summery, but evenings are softer than in August. Rain comes on many days, so a shower may interrupt a walk without ruining the whole day.

You'll get about five hours of sun a day. That's enough for Guangfulin Relics Park, where you can explore the archaeological site and its unusual buildings between showers. Sheshan is another good choice when trails aren't wet. Skip long outdoor plans if the sky looks heavy; September is much wetter than October.

Festivals and holidays

The Shanghai Tourism Festival usually takes place in September, with events around the city. Songjiang's own calendar can vary, so don't count on a particular local event. The Mid-Autumn Festival sometimes falls in September and sometimes in October. If it does, expect more domestic travellers around the holiday.

Travelling with kids? Guangfulin's displays and broad paths make a gentler outing than a muddy Sheshan hike.

Crowds and costs

September is generally calmer than October's National Day holiday, when popular sights and transport can get crowded. It's still a busy travel period in Shanghai, but you may find a quieter visit and better hotel rates than during that holiday week. October is Songjiang's best month overall, with less rain and cooler days.

For an easy route, take Metro Line 9 to Songjiang University Town, then use a local taxi to reach Guangfulin. The park is spread out, and the walk from the station isn't a pleasant shortcut in humid weather.
