Songjiang Weather in October

Mild autumn days

October is one of the best months to explore Songjiang. Afternoons feel mild, while evenings turn cooler than September. Rain is lighter than in September, though showers still come, so the weather can interrupt outdoor plans.

You can wander Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park, with its museum buildings and waterways, or take a walk on Sheshan. It's also a comfortable time for a day at Chenshan Botanical Garden. Save indoor sights for rainy spells, and don't count on a full day of sunshine.

Holiday crowds

China's National Day holiday brings a busy start to October. Popular sights and transport can feel crowded, and hotel prices often rise around the holiday compared with quieter months. Outside that period, autumn is still a popular time to visit, but Songjiang is generally calmer.

If you hate crowds, visit Guangfulin or Sheshan after the holiday rather than during it. Shanghai Happy Valley also runs Halloween-season events in some years, which can draw evening visitors; dates and activities vary.

Tips for Songjiang in October

With comfortable weather and less rain than September, October works well for combining parks, museums and a stroll through Songjiang's old town. It's less suited to a day planned around sunshine alone: cloud cover is common, and rain can still catch you out.

Travelling with kids? Shanghai Happy Valley's Halloween events could be a fun evening, but check the event details before making the trip. For Guangfulin, use Songjiang University Town station as your rail starting point, then take a local bus or taxi to the park; it isn't right beside the metro. Dress for a mild afternoon and a cooler evening, especially if you'll be outside after dark.
