March: warm days

Rangpur's spring days feel warm to hot, with highs around 34°C and evenings cooling to about 19°C. The sun is often out, and rain is limited, so March works well for seeing Tajhat Palace or exploring the city's streets. Try to keep longer outdoor visits for the cooler parts of the day; the midday heat can make walking tiring.

Rain falls on only a handful of days, but a shower can still interrupt a visit. April is hotter and much wetter, while February is cooler and drier. March sits between the two, with plenty of sunshine but less comfortable conditions than the winter months.

Independence Day

Bangladesh observes Independence Day on March 26. Rangpur marks the national holiday with ceremonies and cultural programmes, though the exact local schedule can vary. It's a meaningful time to see patriotic displays and public gatherings, rather than a month-long festival scene.

If you hate crowds, visit Tajhat Palace on an ordinary weekday instead of joining holiday events. March isn't usually the busiest time for visitors: December to February brings the best weather and tends to draw more travellers. You may find accommodation and transport easier to arrange in March, and sometimes cheaper, but prices vary.

Make the heat work

Plan a visit to Tajhat Palace for the morning, then spend the warmer hours somewhere shaded before heading back out. The palace is a short ride from central Rangpur, so you can avoid a long walk in the heat. Ask locally about transport rather than assuming every ride app serves the route.

Travelling with kids? Keep the palace visit short and save outdoor play for the cooler evening. Rangpur's nearby countryside can be pleasant in March, but don't make a long, exposed walk the centrepiece of your day.
