Peshawar Weather in January

January: cool, mostly dry days

January feels crisp in the morning and mild by afternoon. Highs reach 18°C, while nights can fall to 5°C. Rain comes on about seven days, so a shower may interrupt a walk, but most days suit sightseeing. Explore the old city's Qissa Khwani Bazaar or visit the Peshawar Museum, where you can duck indoors if the weather turns. Skip long outdoor plans on rainy days.

What's on, and how busy?

There isn't a major, fixed January festival in Peshawar. New Year's Day is observed, but it doesn't bring a city-wide celebration. Winter is a good time to explore without the summer heat, and January is among the best months to visit. Still, don't expect a completely quiet city: Peshawar is a working regional hub, not a seasonal resort. Visitor numbers and prices can vary, and there's no clear reason to expect January to be cheaper than December.

Make the most of a winter day

With about five and a half hours of sun a day, you can fit in outdoor sights and a relaxed meal. Walk around Bala Hisar Fort, then warm up with chapli kebab, a local minced-meat patty. Evenings feel chilly, so don't leave a long outdoor stroll until late. Compared with December, January is cooler and wetter; February is milder but much rainier. If a shower catches you near Qissa Khwani, step into a tea shop and wait it out.
