Manila Weather in July

July feels wet

Manila in July is hot, sticky and cloudy, with rain on almost every day. Showers can interrupt plans, and streets may flood, so outdoor sightseeing can feel hard work. June is wetter than July? No: June has less rain, while August is also a little drier.

You can still visit air-conditioned museums, browse malls, or explore the National Museum complex between showers. Intramuros is best in shorter bursts; skip long walks if rain is falling. Beach days and open-air plans are a gamble.

Events and quieter streets

July doesn't bring a major citywide festival or public holiday in Manila. It is Nutrition Month in the Philippines, marked by health activities, rather than a big visitor event. Some churches hold observances for Our Lady of Mount Carmel around July 16.

If you hate crowds, July is generally calmer than the drier January and February peak season. Rain keeps many leisure visitors away, and hotels can be less in demand than during the cooler months. The trade-off is that wet weather can disrupt sightseeing, and you may spend more time indoors.

Make rain part of the plan

The afternoon may feel especially close and damp, even when the rain eases. Keep flexible plans: pair an Intramuros visit with the nearby National Museum, then head indoors if a downpour rolls in. July has less rain than June, but more than August.

Travelling with kids? Choose one outdoor stop, then leave room for a mall or museum break. For a practical local trick, use the LRT-1 to reach Intramuros via Central Terminal, then take a short taxi ride if the streets are waterlogged. A bowl of steaming arroz caldo, a Filipino chicken-and-rice porridge, is a welcome stop on a rainy day.
