Visiting Manila in October
October: warm and very wet
October feels sticky, with warm days and little relief after dark. Rain is frequent, and skies are often cloudy. You may get a bright spell, but showers can interrupt an outdoor plan without much warning.
Intramuros still works if you keep your visit flexible. See San Agustin Church or Casa Manila, then duck into a café when rain starts. Skip long walks on exposed streets during heavy showers; flooding can make getting around slow. If you hate crowds, October's rain can thin the queues at outdoor sights, but it won't make the weather pleasant.
Festivals and city plans
The Feast of Our Lady of La Naval is held in October at Santo Domingo Church in Quezon City. Its procession draws worshippers and local visitors, so expect a busier area around the church. Dates vary by year, so check the church's schedule before making the trip.
October also leads into Undas, the Filipino observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day in early November. Some people travel to visit family graves, so roads and transport can get busy near the end of the month.
Fewer visitors, rainy-day options
October is part of Manila's wet season, not the best time for a beach break or long outdoor sightseeing. Visitor numbers are generally lower than in the cooler, drier months of January and February, and hotel rates may be less pressured. Rain can still disrupt plans, though, so keep indoor options in mind.
Travelling with kids? The National Museum complex in Ermita gives you a sheltered way to spend a rainy afternoon. For getting between Intramuros and Ermita, use a taxi or ride-hailing car rather than walking through flooded streets.
