April: warm and damp

April in Luohu feels warm, sticky and often cloudy. The high is 26°C and the low is 21°C, with rain on 13 days. Showers can interrupt a walk, so Dongmen Pedestrian Street works well for browsing under cover and ducking into a food shop.

You can still visit Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, but wet paths and humid air may make a long stroll tiring. April brings more rain than March, though less than May. Save outdoor plans for clearer spells, and avoid relying on an unbroken day outside.

Qingming and crowds

For budget travellers, April can suit a city break: you can spend a rainy spell exploring Dongmen's covered lanes, then head out when the clouds lift. Try a bowl of rice noodle rolls at a local cha chaan teng, a Hong Kong-style café, nearby.

At Luohu Commercial City, near the border crossing, the crowds and shop layout can feel hectic. Agree on a meeting point with your travel companions before splitting up, and keep track of which entrance you used. That small step makes it easier to find your way back.
