April: rain easing

Easter and quieter days

Easter sometimes falls in April, bringing church services and family gatherings. Some businesses may close on Good Friday or Easter Monday, depending on the year. Check locally if you have a specific stop in mind.

April is quieter than Malawi's popular dry-season months, May to August. You're less likely to meet peak-season crowds, and accommodation can cost less than in those months. For budget travellers, April's a useful bridge between the rainy season and the busier winter season.

A practical Lilongwe tip
