Visiting Kuta in February
February: warm and very wet
Kuta stays warm, with highs around 29°C and nights near 25°C. But February is one of Bali's wettest months. Rain falls on most days, and thick cloud leaves little sunshine. Humidity makes afternoons feel sticky.
You can still enjoy a slow breakfast on Jalan Pantai Kuta, browse shops, or spend a rainy spell at Waterbom Bali. Beach walks work between showers, but don't count on a full day of sunbathing. Avoid swimming after heavy rain, when runoff can affect the water near Kuta Beach. Surf conditions can also turn rough.
Holidays and crowds
Chinese New Year, also called Imlek in Indonesia, sometimes falls in February. Dates change each year, and you may notice celebrations around Kuta's Chinese temples and restaurants. It isn't a fixed February event, so check the calendar for your travel year.
If you hate crowds, February is generally calmer than Bali's July-to-September high season. Wet-season visitors often find fewer people on the beach and softer demand for hotels. Prices can be lower than in the dry-season peak, though school breaks and Imlek can bring a short-lived bump in visitors.
Make the rain work
Travelling with kids? Keep Waterbom Bali in mind for a break from the showers, but expect outdoor rides to feel extra humid. For a quieter outing, browse the shops around Kuta Square, then wait out a downpour over nasi goreng at a local warung, a small casual eatery.
For a beach visit, use the stretch near the Kuta Beachwalk end as your base. Cafes and shops are close by if rain rolls in, and you won't be far from shelter. Check local conditions before swimming, especially after a downpour.
