Jinan Weather in February

February feels cold

Jinan's February days are chilly, and nights often fall below freezing. You'll get some sunshine, but the air can feel sharp beside the springs. Rain is limited, so you're more likely to face cold, dry weather than a washout.

Baotu Spring and Daming Lake still work for a winter walk, especially when the sun is out. Keep outdoor visits shorter after dark, and skip long lakeside strolls if icy paths make walking uncomfortable. For a warmer break, duck into a restaurant in Furong Street and try a bowl of Jinan's sweet foam tea, a local breakfast drink.

Holidays and crowds

Lunar New Year sometimes falls in February, though its date changes each year. If it does, expect holiday travel and some closures around the festival. The Lantern Festival can also land in February. Baotu Spring's lantern displays are a local highlight when they're running.

If you hate crowds, avoid the main holiday dates and the busiest evening lantern displays. Outside those periods, February is winter low season, so sights are generally quieter than in spring and autumn. Hotels and flights can cost more around Lunar New Year, though, as people travel to see family.

Make the most of a cold day

February is much colder than March, while spring brings milder weather and more visitors. It's a good month for a quieter city break, but not the best time to linger outdoors all day. Save long walks around Daming Lake for a sunny afternoon.
