Cannes Weather in June

Long, sunny days

June feels properly summery in Cannes, without July's stronger heat. The average high reaches 26°C, with warm evenings around 19°C. You'll get plenty of sunshine for a swim, a Croisette stroll or lunch outside in Le Suquet, the old town.

Rain is limited, but a shower can still interrupt a beach afternoon. Save indoor time for the Musée des Explorations du Monde in Le Suquet, or browse the shops along Rue d'Antibes. The long evenings make it easy to linger by the Vieux-Port after dinner.

Events and crowds

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity brings advertising and media visitors to town in June. It adds a busy, work-focused feel around the Palais des Festivals and La Croisette. The Fête de la Musique on June 21 brings free performances to streets and squares across France, including Cannes.

If you hate crowds, avoid the Palais area during Cannes Lions and head towards the quieter lanes of Le Suquet. June is busier and generally pricier than May, but July and August bring more peak-summer holiday crowds. Cannes is a popular choice in June, so don't expect a quiet beach.

Make the most of it

June suits beach time and sightseeing better than strenuous walks in the midday sun. You can also take a boat from the Vieux-Port to Île Sainte-Marguerite for pine-scented paths and a break from the city. Check the return boat times before setting off; you don't want to cut your island visit short.

Travelling with kids? The sandy beaches near the Palais are handy for a swim between sightseeing stops. For a local food stop, try Marché Forville, where stalls sell Provençal produce and socca, a thin chickpea pancake. It's a good place to pick up picnic food before heading to the waterfront.
