Brazzaville Weather in March

March feels wet

March is hot, sticky and very cloudy in Brazzaville. Highs reach 30°C, and humidity makes even a short walk feel tiring. Rain falls on most days, so showers can interrupt time outside. There's little sunshine to dry things out.

You can still visit the National Museum of the Congo or take a short trip to Basilique Sainte-Anne between showers. Long walks along the Congo River are less appealing when the paths are wet. Save outdoor plans for a break in the rain, and avoid counting on a full beach-style day at the river.

March events and crowds

International Women's Day falls on March 8 and is marked in the Republic of the Congo. You may see local celebrations, though the scale varies. March isn't a major visitor season in Brazzaville, and the frequent rain keeps many travellers away.

If you hate crowds, March may suit you. It's generally quieter, and stays can cost less than during the drier June-to-August high season. The trade-off is that wet weather can make sightseeing less comfortable. April is even rainier, so waiting a month won't help.

Make the rain work

March brings 200 mm of rain, compared with 160 mm in February. It's still a warm month, but cloudy skies and showers can shape your whole day. Keep outdoor visits flexible rather than planning a long stretch on foot.

Travelling with kids? Choose one indoor stop, such as the National Museum, then fit in a nearby sight if the weather clears. For a practical local tip, ask your hotel about the road conditions before heading to the Congo River rapids near the city; heavy rain can make a riverside outing less straightforward.
