October: rain returns

October feels warm and sticky, with highs around 28°C and nights near 20°C. Rain falls on many days, and clouds often soften the sunshine. September is drier; November is wetter still, so October is a changeable middle ground.

You can still enjoy indoor stops like the Geological Museum or browse cafés around Braga when showers arrive. For a clearer spell, head to Tangkuban Perahu, but don't count on long views from the crater. Wet paths can also make walks around the city's hills less pleasant. If you hate crowds, weekday visits to popular sights are calmer than weekend trips.

October doesn't have one major annual Bandung festival that reliably falls in the month. Dates for Islamic holidays, including Maulid Nabi, change each year, so they may affect travel in some Octobers. Check the year's calendar before you go.

Bandung remains a popular weekend escape for visitors from Jakarta, especially around Dago and Lembang. October is generally quieter than the busy August dry-season period, and hotel rates can be easier on weekdays. Local school breaks and long weekends can still bring traffic and higher demand.

Make the rain work

With rain on about 20 days, keep your plans flexible. Use a wet afternoon for the Asia-Africa Conference Museum, then try a walk along Braga when the rain eases. Cloudy, damp weather can make outdoor viewpoints a gamble, so don't build your whole day around one.

At Cihampelas Walk, you can duck between shops and food spots without needing a long outdoor stroll. Try batagor, fried fish dumplings with peanut sauce, at a local stall when the weather turns.
