February: warm and very wet

Bandung stays warm in February, but rain shapes most days. The high is 26°C, with a low of 20°C, and rain falls on 27 days. Humidity is high, skies are often cloudy, and sunshine is limited. You may get a bright morning, then a downpour that slows the afternoon.

Indoor sights work well when the rain sets in. Visit the museum inside Gedung Sate, or settle in a café along Jalan Braga. Save long walks and views from Tangkuban Perahu for a clearer spell; cloud and rain can spoil the scenery, and muddy paths are less pleasant.

Events and local plans

Lunar New Year, called Imlek in Indonesia, sometimes falls in February. Bandung's Chinese community may mark it with celebrations, but the date changes each year. Ramadan can also begin in February in some years; its timing shifts with the lunar calendar. If it does, daytime routines and opening hours may change.

Crowds and a local tip

February is usually quieter than Bandung's drier months, so you'll find fewer visitors at popular sights. It's also a wet-season month, which can mean better value for stays than during busier holiday periods. The rain total is higher than in January or March, though, so don't count on smooth day trips.

For a practical backup, take a taxi or ride-hailing car between Braga and the Asia Afrika area when the streets are soaked. Bandung's traffic can crawl in heavy rain, so leave extra time rather than trying to cross town between plans.
