October: warm and damp

October in Visakhapatnam feels sticky, with warm days and nights and frequent rain. Showers fall on many days, and cloud can cut into your sunshine. It's a poor month for weather, so keep your plans flexible.

You can still visit the INS Kursura Submarine Museum or explore the city between showers. A clear spell can make a walk along Ramakrishna Beach pleasant, but don't count on a full beach day. Skip long hikes up Kailasagiri if rain has made paths slippery, and expect outdoor plans to get interrupted.

Festivals and crowds

Navratri and Dussehra often fall in October, bringing worship, decorations and local festivities. Their dates change each year, so the exact timing varies. If you'd like to see the city's festival mood, ask locally about celebrations near your stay.

Travelling with kids? A festival visit can be fun, but busy areas may feel crowded around the main celebrations. Outside those days, October is generally quieter than the December-to-February peak season. You'll usually find fewer visitors than in the cooler months, and accommodation can cost less, though festival dates may bring a short rise in demand.

Make room for rain

Compared with September, October is less rainy, but it's still a wet month. November is much drier, so choose that month if beach time and outdoor sightseeing matter most. October's cloudy, humid conditions can make a full day of sightseeing tiring.

For a practical rainy-day plan, visit the submarine museum at Ramakrishna Beach, then use a break in the showers for a short seafront walk. Keep a flexible route back to your hotel: heavy rain can slow trips across the city. December to February is a better bet for comfortable sightseeing.
