October feels warm in Nagpur, with daytime highs around 30°C and evenings near 20°C. Humidity is still noticeable, but the rains ease sharply from September's downpours. You'll get plenty of sunshine, though showers can still interrupt a day out.

It's a good month for exploring the city's sights, including Deekshabhoomi and the Central Museum, without planning around constant rain. Save long walks around Seminary Hills for the cooler parts of the day. If you're hoping for a dry, comfortable trip, November to January is a better bet.

Festivals and crowds

Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din, observed around Dussehra, draws large crowds to Deekshabhoomi. The date follows the Hindu calendar, so it can fall in October or another month. Dussehra and Diwali may also bring celebrations, busy markets and more local travel; Diwali's date varies too.

If you hate crowds, avoid visiting Deekshabhoomi during its major observance and check the festival dates before choosing your stay. October is generally quieter than Nagpur's popular November-to-January season, but festive periods can make transport and rooms busier, with prices higher than on ordinary October days.

Getting around Nagpur in October

October's mix of sun and occasional rain suits city sightseeing better than a tightly timed outdoor itinerary. You can visit Sitabuldi Fort or browse the old city, but don't count on every afternoon staying dry. The city's famous oranges are harvested later, so October isn't the best time to expect peak-season fruit.

Travelling with kids? Pair a visit to Maharajbagh Zoo with an indoor stop at the Central Museum if rain rolls in. For Deekshabhoomi, use the Nagpur Metro and get off at the Deekshabhoomi station; it avoids hunting for parking near the site, especially during festival crowds.
