Anguilla · weather by month, temperature and rainfall
If you want the most pleasant weather in The Valley, plan your trip for December to April. The rainy season runs over October; October is the wettest month with about 116 mm (4.6 in) of rain.
When to go to The Valley: a seasonal guide
December to April: dry and easy
This is high season, and it's the best weather by a clear margin. Days sit around 26 to 27°C, the breeze keeps things comfortable, and rain is short and rare. February and March are the driest months, with just four rainy days each. You'll get long, bright afternoons at Shoal Bay East and Meads Bay, and calm enough seas for a boat trip out to Prickly Pear Cays or Sandy Island.
It's also the busiest and priciest stretch. Christmas and New Year are the peak, and the better villas fill up early. If you want the weather without the holiday rush, aim for late January to March.
Moonsplash and the big boat races come later, so this stretch is mostly about beaches, long lunches and the lively beach bars around Sandy Ground and Island Harbour, where you can eat fresh crayfish. Anguilla's Carnival isn't in this window, so don't plan around it.
May to July: quieter and warmer
Things heat up. Highs reach 28 to 29°C, and the air feels stickier, especially at night. Rain comes on 12 to 14 days a month, but it's usually a quick shower, not a washout. Sun is still plentiful between them.
This is a good time if you want empty beach stretches and lower prices. Some restaurants and small hotels close for a break, so check before you set your heart on one. Early August brings Anguilla's Carnival, with parades and boat racing, so July visitors can catch the run-up as the island gets busier.
August to November: wet and slow
August to October are the weakest months. Rain falls on 15 to 17 days a month, and October is the wettest at 116 mm. It's also the heart of hurricane season, so a flexible plan and travel insurance matter here. Storms can close beaches and disrupt ferries from Saint Martin.
Not everything shuts down, though. If you don't mind a gamble, you'll find the island nearly to yourself and the sea warm as a bath. Some hotels close for a few weeks in this period.
November is a gentle turning point. Rain eases to 80 mm, the crowds are still thin, and places start reopening ahead of winter. If you want savings with fewer risks, it's your best bet outside the dry months.
