Visiting The Valley in March
March weather in The Valley
March is one of the best months to visit, and it rates excellent at 9.4 out of 10 on our comfort score. You'll get sunny spells with a little cloud, and rain stays light. That leaves you free to explore The Valley's heritage buildings or head out to Shoal Bay East for a swim or a snorkel. On the coast, the sea breeze helps. Inland, afternoons can feel sticky.
Daylight is generous, at about 11.9 hours, so there's plenty of time for beach days, boat trips or a long walk around the island. Save the strenuous walks for cooler hours, and don't count on rain to cool things down. Our best months run from December to April, and February is almost as dry as March. April is warmer and wetter, but it still comes close.
Festivals and Easter
Events can change the feel of the month too. Moonsplash, Anguilla's reggae festival, is usually held at Rendezvous Bay around March, though the dates vary. If Easter falls in March, Festival Del Mar brings boat racing and seafood to Island Harbour. It's a lively local event, so expect more people around the harbour during the celebrations.
If crowds aren't your thing, pick a beach away from the festival and save Island Harbour for another day. Travelling with kids? The boat races are fun to watch, but the harbour gets busy.
Crowds and costs
March falls inside Anguilla's high season, which runs from December to April. Expect more visitors and higher room prices than in the quieter summer months. Beaches are still lovely, but popular spots such as Shoal Bay East won't feel as empty as they do in low season.
One thing to plan for: The Valley isn't on the coast, so you'll need a ride to reach the beaches. Ask your accommodation about transport to Shoal Bay East or Rendezvous Bay before you set off, since public transport options are limited.
