Visiting Singapore in July
July weather
July feels hot and sticky from morning to night, with little relief after dark. Rain falls on many days, and thick cloud often dims the sunshine. The showers can interrupt outdoor plans, so don't count on a full beach day at Sentosa.
You can still explore Gardens by the Bay, then duck into its cooled conservatories when the heat or rain builds. Chinatown's food centres and the shops along Orchard Road also make handy stops between showers. Save long walks around the Southern Ridges for a cooler, clearer spell.
July events
The Singapore Food Festival often takes place around July, though dates change. It's a good time to try local dishes such as laksa and chilli crab, with special menus and food events around the city.
If you're visiting near the end of the month, National Day rehearsals may bring aircraft flypasts and fireworks practice ahead of Singapore's August celebration. They can be fun to catch, but some events draw crowds around Marina Bay.
Crowds and costs
July overlaps with summer holidays in Europe and North America, so popular sights can feel busy and hotel prices may be higher than in quieter months. It's not usually as packed as major Chinese New Year travel periods. February and March tend to offer better weather, according to the climate data.
If you hate crowds, visit Marina Bay Sands SkyPark on a weekday rather than during a rehearsal weekend. Travelling with kids? Use the underground link from Bayfront MRT to Gardens by the Bay; it keeps you out of the heat and rain on the way to the conservatories.
