Long, sunny days

June feels properly summery in Rhodes, with warm days and mild evenings. The average high is 28°C, and rain is rare. You'll have long daylight for wandering the lanes of Rhodes Old Town, then watching the sun go down by the harbour.

Swimming and boat trips suit the settled weather, and the sea is warming up. Inland walks can feel exposed in the afternoon, so save the climb around Lindos Acropolis for a cooler part of the day. You might prefer a shaded stop over sightseeing in the midday heat.

Festivals and holidays

The Rhodes Summer Festival brings music and cultural performances to venues around the island, including Rhodes Town. Dates and programmes change each year, so check locally for June events. Orthodox Pentecost and Whit Monday can also fall in June; expect some businesses to close on the public holiday.

Crowds and costs

June is busier and usually pricier than May, as beach weather draws more visitors and the summer season gets going. It's still generally calmer and less costly than July, when school holidays bring heavier crowds and hotter days. The Old Town can feel packed around popular sights, but quieter corners are easier to find later in the day.

For a useful local tip, take the bus from Rhodes Town to Lindos rather than driving into the village. Cars can't enter its central lanes, so you'll avoid searching for a spot near the entrance.
