November's crisp autumn days

November feels cool and increasingly wintry in Qingyang. Afternoons reach about 9°C, but nights can fall to -3°C, so sightseeing is much more comfortable during the day. Rain is limited, with around four wet days, and there's often enough sun for outdoor visits.

You can explore Qingyang's North Grotto Temple, where Buddhist statues are carved into the cliffs, or visit the Zhouzu Mausoleum. The shorter daylight hours leave less time for long outings. Save exposed countryside walks for sunny afternoons, and don't count on a warm evening outdoors.

Quiet season, few holidays

November has no major nationwide Chinese holiday, so you're unlikely to meet the holiday rush seen around National Day in October or Lunar New Year. Qingyang also doesn't have a well-known November festival to plan a trip around.

If you hate crowds, this is a quieter time to visit. Visitor numbers and hotel prices are generally lower than in the popular spring months, especially April to June. Some attractions may feel subdued, but you'll have more room to explore at your own pace.

Make the most of your visit

Travelling with kids? Keep outdoor sightseeing to the warmer part of the day, then head indoors before the cold evening sets in. Qingyang's autumn weather is fair, not reliably mild, and it's colder here than in nearby Xi'an this month.

A useful local tip: check transport to North Grotto Temple before setting out. It's outside central Qingyang, and the cooler weather makes a slow wait for a ride less pleasant. For a relaxed city stop, look for Qingyang's local lamb dishes to warm up after a day outside.
