Cool days by the coast

November feels cool, but it's still a good month for walking around Qingdao. Days reach 13°C, while evenings dip to 9°C. Rain is limited to about four days, so you'll often have dry weather for sightseeing. The sea air can feel chilly, especially along the waterfront.

The 10 hours of daylight leave time for a stroll through Badaguan, where old villas sit among tree-lined streets. You can also walk around Zhanqiao Pier, then warm up with a bowl of seafood noodles. Skip swimming and long beach days; the water and air are too cold for most visitors.

Quieter streets, fewer events

November is quieter than the busy summer season and October, one of Qingdao's best months. You'll generally find fewer visitors at sights such as the Tsingtao Brewery Museum, and accommodation prices tend to be lower than in peak season.

There isn't a major annual Qingdao festival to plan around this month. Singles' Day on November 11 is a huge shopping event across China, mostly focused on online sales rather than local celebrations. If you hate crowds, November is a calmer time to explore the city.

Make room for a rainy day

Cloud covers nearly half the month, so keep an indoor stop in mind. The Tsingtao Brewery Museum on Dengzhou Road makes a handy break from the cool weather. You can learn about the city's best-known beer and finish with a tasting.

Travelling with kids? Pair the museum with a short walk along nearby streets rather than a long coastal outing. Even on dry days, the shorter daylight means you'll have less time for wandering than in October. Check the forecast before heading out to Laoshan, where a clear day makes the mountain trails more rewarding.
