Visiting Pimpri in June
June: warm, wet and cloudy
June brings a sharp change from May's dry heat. Days still reach about 30°C, but rain falls on most days, and high humidity makes the air feel sticky. Expect cloudy skies and little sunshine. The rain also brings relief from May's fiercer heat, though showers can interrupt plans.
Short visits to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Science Park can work between showers. Keep outdoor time flexible, and don't count on a dry afternoon at Bird Valley Udyan. June is a poor month for a tightly packed sightseeing schedule. For families with young children, indoor stops are easier than long walks in the rain.
Palkhi season and local crowds
The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi procession usually travels from Dehu towards Pandharpur around June or early July, as part of the Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage. Its route and timing vary, but the procession can bring crowds and slow traffic in parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Check local notices if you'll be travelling near Dehu or along the route.
Away from the procession, June is generally quieter than the best-visited months of November to January. It's also outside the main winter travel season, so visitor demand is lower. Don't assume every hotel or fare will be cheaper, though; prices vary by provider and event dates.
Getting around in the rain
July is wetter still, with more rain than June, so this month offers a slightly easier start to the monsoon. Even so, rain on many days can disrupt outdoor plans and make road journeys slower. Leave room to change your plans, especially if you're crossing town during a downpour.
A practical local tip: if the Palkhi is passing through, ask locally which roads near Dehu are affected before setting off. The pilgrimage can change traffic on routes you might otherwise use for a routine trip around Pimpri-Chinchwad.
