Panaji Weather in February

February feels dry and sunny

Panaji is warm in February, with afternoons reaching 31°C and evenings staying mild. Rain is rare, and the clear, sunny days suit wandering Fontainhas, the city's old Latin Quarter, or taking a Mandovi River cruise.

The heat can feel tiring on long walks, especially around the open spaces near Miramar Beach. Save a full afternoon of sightseeing for somewhere shaded, such as the Goa State Museum, and enjoy the riverfront later.

Carnival and crowds

Goa Carnival sometimes falls in February, bringing parades, music and costumed floats to Panaji. Its dates change each year because it takes place before Lent, so the city doesn't get Carnival every February.

If you hate crowds, avoid parade routes when the Carnival is on. February is still part of Goa's high season, so Panaji is busier and rooms tend to cost more than in the wet months. It's usually less hectic than the Christmas and New Year rush, though popular restaurants and river cruises can still fill up.

With little rain and plenty of sunshine, February works well for sightseeing, beach time and day trips around Goa. You can visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa without planning around frequent showers. March gets hotter and wetter, so February is a comfortable choice before conditions shift.

Travelling with kids? The dry weather makes a walk along Miramar easier, but the midday sun can wear everyone out.
