Nha Trang Weather in January

January weather

January feels mild and humid in Nha Trang, with warm days and nights. Rain falls on several days, but it's much less wet than December. Cloud often hangs around, so don't count on long, bright beach days.

You can still swim at Nha Trang Beach or take a boat trip to Hon Mun when the sea is calm. The cooler feel also suits a walk around Po Nagar Cham Towers. Skip planning every day around sunbathing; showers and cloud can interrupt beach time.

Holidays and crowds

January 1 is a public holiday in Vietnam. Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, sometimes falls in January, though its date changes each year. When it does, travel gets busy and some local businesses close for part of the holiday.

Nha Trang also draws winter visitors, so it can feel busier than rainy December. Prices may rise around New Year and Tet. February to April usually brings better beach weather, so January isn't the clearest choice for a sun-first trip.

For families, the mild weather can make sightseeing easier than in hotter months, but keep a flexible beach day in reserve.

A local tip

On a cloudy or showery day, visit Long Son Pagoda and climb to its white Buddha statue. The steps can be slippery after rain, so take your time. You'll get a good look over the city if the cloud lifts.

For lunch, try bún chả cá, a local fish-cake noodle soup, around Xom Moi Market. It's a satisfying stop after walking, and a useful plan when the beach weather turns. Check the sea before setting off for Hon Mun; choppy water can spoil the boat ride.
